Before inciting Hindus, produce and raise 10 kids: Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday that before “inciting” Hindus, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat should himself father 10 children and raise them well, wading into the row over the RSS chief’s comments on Hindu population.

“Before inciting the Hindus, Bhagwat should himself father 10 children and show that he can raise them well,” Mr Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.

During an interaction at an event in Agra on Saturday, Mr Bhagwat courted controversy when he said, “Which law says the population of Hindus should not rise There is nothing like that. What is stopping them when population of others is rising The issue is not related to the system. It is because the social environment is like this.”

The Aam Aadmi Party chief also took on BJP chief Amit Shah over his comments on nationalism. “We have to unite against those who want to crush the freedom of speech and democracy in the garb of nationalism,” said another post by Mr Kejriwal on the microblogging site.

Mr Kejriwal was referring to Mr Shah’s tweets which said that people would have to unite against those “dividing” the nation and that no nation can stand together in the absence of nationalism and patriotism.

In another tweet, Mr Kejriwal alleged that “Congress was in Ambani’s pockets, similarly the Modi government is in Ambani’s pockets too.”

His comments came on a day Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) sought quashing of an FIR against it for alleged irregularities in raising gas prices from KG 6 basin, telling the Delhi high court that the AAP government was “never entitled” to lodge an FIR against it.
