House that! MP MLAs blame Assembly vastu for deaths

Madhya Pradesh legislators on Friday claimed that the “defective vastu” in the construction of a new state Assembly building has led to untimely deaths of some of their colleagues in the past 17 years

Madhya Pradesh legislators on Friday claimed that the “defective vastu” in the construction of a new state Assembly building has led to untimely deaths of some of their colleagues in the past 17 years and called for fixing the “flaws”.

Demise of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Satyadeb Katare on Thursday has provided the trigger for the revival of the oft-repeated demand by MLAs in the state, irrespective of party affiliations, to get the “Vidhansabha” examined by “vastu experts” to find out “flaws” and resolve the problems to ensure wellbeing of the members.

The debate on the “defective vastu” of the House began when BJP national general secretary and MLA Kailash Vijayvargiya tweeted on Friday, expressing his fear if “vastu” problem of the state Assembly House was to blame for the sad demise of the CLP leader.

Later, many legislators joined the chorus with him demanding the Assembly Speaker to take immediate measures to fix the “vastu” problems.

“The tenure of each Assembly has witnessed deaths of five-six members ever since the new ‘Vidhansabha’ has started functioning nearly 17 years ago. There are serious “vastu” problems in the construction of the new Assembly house,” senior Congress leader and former minister Mukesh Nayak said.

He cited how the roof slope of the Assembly building has been directed to southeast side instead of northeast direction as per “vastu norms”.

As many as 29 sitting legislators have died in the last four tenures of the MP Assembly.

Total 11 members died during the 11th Assembly, while seven during the 12th Assembly. Similarly, six sitting members of the 13th Assembly died. The current 14th Assembly has so far witnessed untimely deaths of six sitting legislators.
