According to reports, most of the victims had consumed spurious liquor on Sunday night at Khadta and Datri villages in Malihabad and Hasanganj in Unnao district.

Within hours, they started complaining of severe stomach ache and vomiting. Most of the family members thought that this was due to excessive drinking but when some of them started complaining of loss of eyesight, they were rushed to hospitals.
