Herald case: Centre targeting us through govt agencies, claim Gandhis after getting bail

New Delhi:

Congress President Sonia Gandhi accused the Modi-led government of targeting her and son Rahul Gandhi, while addressing a press conference on Saturday, minutes after the Patiala court granted unconditional bail to them in the National Herald case. “The current government is targeting us deliberately, they are using government agencies for this, but we are not going to be scared, we will continue to fight” she said. -"I am completely aware of the intention of the people behind the case. These people have been trying for long to target us. They will not succeed,-" Sonia said, taking a jibe at the petitioner Subramanian Swamy. Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi addressed the media after Sonia and hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Prime Minister makes false allegations thinking the opposition will bend. I will not bend, Congress party won't bend,” Rahul said, reiterating the charge of ‘vendetta politics’ against the BJP. “We will fight back and continue to be a strong opposition. I want to tell every citizen that we will not be scared. We will not move back an inch.” He added.

Earlier, the court had granted bail to all accused in the case including Motilal Vora, Oscar Fernandes and Suman Dubey, who appeared before Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen in the Patiala House courts complex in the heart of the capital in pursuance of the summons issued to them on Dec 8. The case is based on a private criminal complaint lodged by Swamy against them of cheating, conspiracy and criminal breach of trust.
