An 18-year-old girl was late on Friday night pulled out of the bus and stabbed to death by a youth, who was stalking her, in Sidhi district in Madhya Pradesh.

According to the police, the accused, Sivendra Singh, boarded the bus with a can of petrol at Bhadura and started harassing the victim, Sanju Singh.

The girl was pursuing her graduation in Rewa district and was travelling in the bus to go to her home in Sidhi district.

The passengers intervened and forced the youth to sit in the rear seat.

However, when the bus stopped at Gothra, the youth got down and tried to enter the bus from the front door.

He stabbed the conductor Ashok Gupta when the latter tried to resist. Later, the youth poured petrol on the girl and on the bus floor and threatened the passengers to set it ablaze if they tried to protect the girl.

He then dragged the girl out of the bus and stabbed her several times, even as the passengers remained mute spectators. The girl died on the spot.

“The accused was absconding. He has a criminal history. We have launched manhunt for him”, Sidhi SP Abid Khan said on Saturday.
