JD(U) state president Basisth Narayan Singh on Friday demanded action from the Congress against its legislator, Sidhartha Kumar Singh, for allegedly kidnapping a woman and not cooperating with the police.
The JD(U) state chief, while referring to the action his party took against the legislator Sarfaraz Alam last week for misbehaving with a couple while travelling on a train, asked the Congress not to delay the process of action against their legislator as “it will give the wrong impressi-on about the government”.
He said, “They should take immediate action against their MLA like we had done last week.” The remarks led to a mild war of words between the two parties of the Grand Secular Alliance, with Congress leaders saying, “Before making any statement they should think what they are saying, they didn’t take action against their MLA immediately and they want us to initiate action against our MLA only in one day.”
However, later the drama took an interesting turn when the girl, who was allegedly kidnapped by the Congress MLA, appeared on Frid-ay with his driver Pankaj Sharma whom she claimed to be her beau.
In her statement before the police, she said that the MLA was not involved in her kidnapping. The girl also showed a marriage certificate from a Varanasi temple and said, “After leaving Patna I got married to Pankaj Sharma.”
