Germany has agreed to conduct a feasibility study at its own cost for high-speed rail system on Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru route.
Germany has agreed to conduct a feasibility study at its own cost for high-speed rail system on Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru route. The decision was arrived at on Tuesday after senior officials of the ministry of transport and digital infrastructure, Germany, held talks with the Railway Board on the follow-up action on the outcomes of the visit by Union minister for railways Suresh Prabhu to Berlin in April.
“During the meeting it was decided that Germany will conduct feasibility study for high speed rail of Chennai–Bengaluru-Mysore section with its finances,” said a senior official of the Railway Board. State secretary, ministry of transport and digital infrastructure, Germany, Mr Michel Odenwald and his delegation held extensive discussions with Railway Board chairman A.K. Mittal and other board members.
It was also decided that Germany will take up one existing railway line and work to enhance the speed of the trains to the level of 200 kmph.
