Former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin was on Wednesday held guilty of murdering two brothers 11 years ago in Siwan district of Bihar.

According to lawyers, the court found him and three others — Rajkumar Sah, Arif Hussain and Aslam — guilty of abducting Girish Raj and Satish Raj and giving them “acid bath” resulting in their death.

The additional district judge A.K. Srivastava pronounced them as guilty under section 302 which amounts to murder, 364 (A) for kidnapping, 201 for providing false details regarding the case and 120 B which amounts to criminal conspiracy.

The quantum of their punishment will be decided on December 11.

According to lawyers, the incident had occurred in 2004 in Siwan, when on the instruction of Mohd. Shahbuddin, three sons of a local businessman Chandrashekhar were kidnapped from their house and taken to Pratappur, the native village of Shahbuddin where acid were poured on Girish and Satish while Rajiv Raushan somehow managed to escape from the scene of occurrence.

Lawyers said Rajiv was the sole surviving witness of the incident and had also appeared in the court but was later murdered in Siwan on June 16 2014. Shahbuddin’s son Osama is a suspect in Rajiv’s murder.
