Unconfirmed reports said at least 25 people are feared buried when a three-storey building collapsed in Satna district’s Meher on Saturday morning.
MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan rushed to the spot to supervise the rescue operation but failed to ascertain the toll.
“A house collapsed in Meher bringing some people under its debris. Rescue operation is on,” he told reporters here before boarding the train for Satna.
The chief minister also took stock of the flood situation at a high-level official meeting here.
Seven members of a family died and three others were injured when their house collapsed in Rahatgarh area under Sagar district.
Army’s help has been sought to rescue marooned people in different districts. Army helicopters have already been deployed in rescue operations in Satna district, officials said.
Official reports said more than 200 villages in the districts of Satna, Rewa, Panna and Sagar have been marooned following floods in different rivers.
MP has been witnessing heavy downpours in the past one month leaving 73 dead so far.
