The arrest of Noida engineer Yadav Singh by the CBI on Wednesday appears to be the proverbial manna from heaven for the BJP in UP.
UP BJP state president Laxmikant Bajpai has termed the arrest of Yadav Singh as a “much-awaited event” that will “expose the true faces of the BSP and SP governments”. The BJP apparently has found ammunition for the 2017 Assembly elections and will use the Yadav Singh case to target the BSP and the SP.
According to BJP sources, the party is eagerly waiting for the CBI to reveal the names of leaders in both the parties who had colluded with the Noida engineer and also those who patronised and supported him through the SP and BSP regimes.
“Yadav Singh is going to be the most powerful weapon that will be used against BSP and SP leaders to expose their involvement in corruption. The engineer enjoyed super powers in Mayawati regime and then again in the Akhilesh regime and there has to be something big if he enjoyed the patronage of both the regimes,” a senior party leader said.
