New Delhi: The Election Commission today announced the dates for the Assembly elections to five states – Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Mizoram. Addressing the media here, Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath gave the following timetable: Delhi: Poll date: Dec 4 Rajasthan: Dec 1 Madhya Pradesh: Nov 25. Chattisgarh: Nov 11 and 19 in two phases. Mizoram: Dec 4 With today’s announcement, the model code of conduct will come into effect.The EC said the Commission said following the September ruling, None of the Above (NOTA) button would be provided and the electorate would be properly briefed on the fact that they have the option to reject all the candidatges. The Election Commissioner said over 11 crore would be eligible for voting and that Electoral Photo Identity Cards have been issued to nearly 100 percent of the voters. There would be 1.30 lakh polling booths for 630 Assembly constituencies across the five states.He also said that there would be 'micro electoral observers’ to bring about more transparency.
