Hours after IPS officer was posted as Lucknow’s first woman SSP on Monday night, her transfer was cancelled around midnight after some senior SP leaders objected to her posting.
Ms Saini told reporters: “I was informed about the cancellation of my transfer after midnight and was asked to stay back in Etawah (where she is currently posted as police chief).”
However, on Tuesday afternoon, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav tweeted that Manzil Saini would be the SSP of Lucknow.
No official confirmation, however, came from the home department about the cancellation of her transfer on Monday night and then her posting on the same post on Tuesday.
According to sources, some senior SP leaders had objected to the decision to post Ms Saini in Lucknow because of her high-handed behaviour in the past. They apparently found her too tough for a posting in the state capital.
