In a shocking incident, a government doctor has been accused of molesting three trainee nurses in an operation theatre in a district hospital in Barabanki district. The three nurses lodged a complaint against the doctor after which a case was registered against him on Saturday. A case has been registered against a government doctor in Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh after three trainee nurses complained that he molested them in an operation theatre, police said on Saturday. According to police reports, 22 students of a private nursing college were undergoing training in the Barabanki district hospital and had been deputed to assist Dr P.R. Agnihotri in the operation theatre. The trainee nurses have said in their complaint that the doctor tried to draw them into an obscene conversation, but they resisted. When the nurses were leaving the operation theatre, the doctor molested them. The students informed their families about the incident and a complaint was filed with the chief medical superintendent (CMS) of the hospital. The chief medical superintendent, Dr Sarvesh Saxena, admitted that he had received the complaint and said that a probe has been ordered. The doctor has been charged with Sections 294 (obscene acts and songs), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) in a first information report. Departmental action against the doctor is yet to be taken.
