After Bulandshahar and Bareilly, it is now Agra where two gangrape cases have been reported in a single day. The victims are a physically challenged teen and a widow.
In the first case, a 19-year-old girl, who lives with her brother in rented accommodation at Prakash Nagar in Agra, told the Etmad-ud-Daula police officials that her landlord Lala and his brother-in-law Qurban barged into her house and forced themselves on her. She claimed that the two were heavily drunk. Her brother and sister-in-law had gone to Aligarh when the incident took place.
The girl’s neighbour said that when he saw the two men breaking into her house, he understood their intentions and alerted the mother and wife of the accused, but the women ignored the information.
“Later, when I went into the house, I saw the two men forcing themselves on the victim. They fled when I tried to raise an alarm,” he told the police.
Satrunjay Singh, station officer of the Etmad-ud-Daula police station said that the two accused men have been arrested.
In the second incident, a 35-year-old widow was gangraped in Nawada in the neighbouring Kasganj district by two men who were known as friends of her late husband.
