Bassi on Tuesday slammed AAPs proposal for setting up 'special police stations'
New Delhi
: Stepping up its attack on Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi over his comments against setting up parallel police stations in the capital, AAP on Tuesday said the security agency was acting like a -"frontal outfit-" of the BJP and its chief like an -"unofficial spokesperson-".
Responding to Bassi's letter to the Delhi government in which he advised to include moral education to boys and youth in colleges, the party said the AAP-led Delhi government need not learn values from the police whose personnel had a bad record in this regard.
-"The Delhi Police is acting like the frontal organisation of the BJP and its Commissioner is acting like its unofficial spokesperson. Is he (Bassi) thinking about the gains post-retirement. Such type of a statement against a popularly elected government does not suit him and I don't think even his service rules permit that,-" the party's Delhi convener Dilip Pandey said.
-"Their personnel raped a woman at a gunpoint, they put hot boiling oil on vendors who refuse to pay bribe, to save a cop taking bribe the Delhi Police went up to High Court they should not give us moral science lectures,-" he alleged.
Bassi had yesterday slammed the AAP government's proposal for setting up 'special police stations' as -"absolutely wrong-", advising Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to -"concentrate on areas of governance related to women safety-".
-"It's absolutely wrong when he is talking of a parallel police force. What he needs to do is that there are many areas of governance, which constitute the safety of women. So I will urge the CM to concentrate on those areas,-" Bassi had said to a news channel.
The party also targeted the Delhi Police over a survey by a private agency, which claimed it to be -"corrupt-".
-"The crime rate has increased in Delhi. We have been saying that give the Delhi Police to us for a year. If you are not satisfied with it then take it back. Instead of targeting AAP the police should focus on curbing the crime-" Pandey said.
