Jailbreak kingpin’s aide held in Nabha case

Chandigarh: The Organised Crime Intelligence Unit (OCIU) of the Intelligence Wing of Punjab Police arrested a gangster involved in the Nabha jail-break case. Sukhchain Singh, the person arrested, is reportedly the accomplice of Gurpreet Singh Sekhon, mastermind of the crime.

Receiving an input, the police led by inspector Shamider Singh held a barricade and pursued a white Verna car as it came on the Nabha Sangrur Road. The accused was arrested from the car, and a country-made 30 bore pistol, a licensed 32 bore revolver and 630 gram intoxicant powder was also recovered from his possession

The police also said that Sukhchain Singh, or “Sukhi” was an accomplice of Gurpreet Singh Sekhon - the mastermind of the Nabha Jail Break Case. Singh had remained behind the bars along with Gurpreet Singh Sekhon at Bathinda Jail in 2014, where they got to know each other.

Sukhchain Singh had also remained an accomplice of Mani Sekhon, brother of Gurpreet Sekhon. Besides, he also has links with the gangsters of Bathinda Jail and fugitive gangsters. He played an important role in the Nabha Jail-break case. About a dozen of criminal cases are registered against him. Sukhchain Singh was on bail from Sangrur Jail in the year 2016 in a criminal case.

Of the six gangsters who had escaped the jailbreak, Harminder Singh, Gurpreet Singh Sekhon, Kulpreet Singh, Neeta and Aman Dhotia have been arrested. A total of 22 accused have been arrested so far. Fourteen pistols, nine cars and 500 rounds of ammunition and walkie-talkie sets were recovered.
