Man held for abusing woman, taking pics

Bhubaneswar: Odisha police on Wednesday arrested a tribal youth on charges of clicking nude photographs of a married woman and threatening her to upload the pictures on internet.

The accused was identified as Ganeswar Hembram (27) of Dhokota village under Mayurbhanj district, nearly 300 km from here. According to reports, the incident took place at Badampahada area on June 8 in the morning where the accused stripped the woman’s clothes in the forest and clicked photographs with his mobile phone.

Ganeswar had chased the woman while she was going to the jungle near her home to collect forest produce. He then overpowered her in an isolated place in the forest and clicked nude photographs of her after removing her clothes. He also threatened the victim of uploading the photos on the internet if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

The victim told her husband about it after reaching home, who wanted to solve the issue in the village where meeting was held thrice over the incident. However, it was not sorted out. Later, the husband of the victim lodged a complaint with Badampahada police station on June 18. Acting on the complaint, the police on Wednesday arrested the accused and forwarded him to the court.
