Aligarh: Two persons were arrested on Friday for allegedly beating up their neighbour for “reciting Bhagwad Gita” at his residence.

According to police, Dilsher Khan was reciting from the Bhagvad Gita when Mohammad Sameer (20) and Zakir (21) entered his house and beat him up.

Sameer and Zakir were send to judicial custody by a local court on Friday.

The police said Khan recited holy books Bhagvad Gita and Ramayana every morning and both of them had objected to this several times.

“On Thursday morning, the two barged into Dilsher’s residence and started beating him up. Dilsher’s family members intervened. Dilsher claimed that the two then left his house, but took the holy books with them,” The Indian Express quoted the police.
