Odisha: Couple held for faking theft, murder

Sambalpur (Odisha): A young couple was on Sunday arrested at Contractors’ Colony in Burla town here on charges of killing a security guard who resisted an attempt of robbery at his employer’s house in August.

“The son and daughter-in-law of the contractor have been arrested for engineering robbery and then killing the security guard. Cash and other gold jewellery have been recovered from the couple. They have confessed to have committed the crime,” SP Sanjeev Arora told reporters after arrest of the couple.

The husband-wife duo was at odds with Ashok Singh, a Burla-based contractor. Singh opposed the marriage of his youngest son Karan Singh (20) with Sherjit Kaur (23).
