4 molestation accused booked

Patna: The Bihar police have arrested four youths in connection with the molestation attempt on a minor girl in Jehanabad area.

According to the police, all accused have been booked under the stringent Pocso act and attempts are being made to trace other youths who were involved in the incident.

The police said arrests were made on the basis of a shocking video which showed several youths dragging and attempting to molest a girl.

The police while terming the incident as the “most heinous” and “unpardonable” said, “Strict action will be initiated against all those who have been involved”.

While speaking on the issue, IG Nayyar Husnain Khan told reporters in Patna on Monday, “SIT has been formed to trace others who were involved in the incident.

All the four accused have been booked under section 376 of the IPC and the Pocso act. We may even impose stricter sections against all accused after investigations”.

He said that the police initiated action against detained persons after faces of two of them matched with youths in the video while two others were involved in making the video clip which was uploaded on the social media.

However, the video was later removed from all social media platform by the cyber crime cell.

The mobile phone with which the video was shot has also been recovered by the police.

“We are in the process of identifying others and we will soon nab them too”, IG Nayyar Husnain Khan said.

SIT was formed on Sunday after the video was uploaded on the social media.

Initially, the Jehanabad police had registered an FIR against unknown persons on the basis of the registration number of the motorcycle which was seen in the video clip.

The motorcycle has been traced to a village in Jehanabad which helped the district police in starting an investigation into the case.
