A Delhi court on Tuesday directed the Delhi State Election Commission to furnish the nomination paper and other documents related to Union minister Smriti Irani against whom a criminal complaint has been filed for allegedly giving false information in an affidavit to the poll panel.
Metropolitan magistrate Harvinder Singh asked the Delhi State Election Commission to furnish the details on June 6, the next date of hearing.
Earlier, in court, O.P. Tanwar, the assistant registrar, School of Open Learning, Delhi University, said documents pertaining to Ms Irani’s BA course in 1996, as purportedly mentioned by her in an affidavit filed during the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, were yet to be found. “Irani’s Class 12 documents, submitted with the admission form of B.Com (H), were also yet to be found,” Tanwar said while submitting some documents related to Ms Irani, including her admission form for B.Com (H) of 1993-94 and its result, and her enrolment-cum-admission form in BA (H) Political Science First Year for 2013-14.
