Congress leaders flock to home of sacked MP minister

Congress leaders of Madhya Pradesh have been thronging the house of veteran leader Babulal Gaur, apparently, to express their sympathy for him ever since he was “unceremoniously” removed from Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s ministry last week for being “over aged”, causing unease in the ruling BJP circle.
A Congress delegation comprising district leaders of the party on Monday met the maverick leader in his official residence to give him “moral support” in this “hour of crisis”.
“He shared his grief with us over a cup of tea. We have assured our moral support to him to tide over the crisis,” one of the representatives in the delegation told this newspaper.
Many Congress stalwarts including state party president Arun Yadav, Ajey Singh and sate party spokesman K.K.Mishra met him a day after he made an “ignominious” exit from the ministry.
Sources close to him said Congress MP Jyotiradiya Scindia had also talked to him over telephone.
The development appeared to have made ruling BJP leadership in the state nervous. This was apparent from the statement made by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan that Mr Gaur, along with Mr Sartaz Singh, another minister in the state government who was dropped for the same reason, belonged to the BJP family. Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has also reportedly called Mr Gaur on phone reminding him of his contribution to the party.
Mr Gaur has won Assembly elections from Govindpura seat ten times in a row.
