Come clean on demands, says NC

The National Conference (NC) has asked the PDP and the Prime Minister’s Office to come clean on the demands made by Ms Mehbooba Mufti as a pre-requisite for government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.

The National Conference (NC) has asked the PDP and the Prime Minister’s Office to come clean on the demands made by Ms Mehbooba Mufti as a pre-requisite for government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.

“It is also imperative to know what concessions, if any, were conceded in the meeting the PDP president had with the Prime Minister in Delhi on Tuesday,” NC general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar said here.

He added, “The PDP is answerable to the people of the state to justify its imminent surrender after two-and-a-half months of steep posturing and refusal to form the government with its alliance partner.”

Mr Sagar alleged that J&K was pushed into a phase of political uncertainty and chaos as the PDP not only refused to form the government with its alliance partner, but also refused to divulge what demands, if any, it had put before the Central government. He said Ms Mufti had on more than one occasions publicly stated that she won’t be able to form the government unless and until the Central government takes some confidence-building initiatives in the state.
