Principal of a state government-run high school in a tribal-dominated village of Chhattisgarh, who had been absconding for the past six months after being accused of raping a girl student, was arrested on Thursday, the police said. The incident took place in the village of Ghanora in Kondagaon district. The accused, Radheshyam Netam (60), allegedly outraged modesty of a 16-year-old tribal girl, student of Class 10, inside the school premises in the village in April this year. He had also warned the alleged victim not to disclose the matter before her parents. The traumatised girl however one day mustered courage to narrate her ordeal before her parents, who later took up the matter with the local panchayat, comprising village elders, seeking justice for their daughter.
