In its effort to get some vital clues in the case pertaining to the gangrape of a woman and her teenage daughter in Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh in July, the CBI is contemplating conducting brain-mapping test on the accused.

Sources said that apart from conducting narco-analysis test on the accused, the CBI plans to subject them to brain-mapping test also. “The scientific tests on the accused may provide certain leads to the agency sleuths investing the case,” sources said. The agency will have to take the consent of the accused for conducting these scientific tests on them.

The CBI recently took over the investigations into the Bulandshahr gangrape case. The incident took place when six members of a Noida-based family were travelling to Shahjahanpur in western UP on the intervening night of July 29-30, 2016. On the national highway passing through Bulandshahr, their car was stopped by criminals who dragged the 13-year-old girl and her mother out and raped them in a field nearby. The Allahabad high court had ordered the CBI to take over the investigation in the case.

The state police recently arrested a total of six persons, including the main accused Salim Bawariya, in connection with the case. The four arrested accused recently pleaded not guilty in a Bulandshahr court and demanded a narco-analysis test to prove their innocence.

Salim and his three accomplices — who said they were falsely implicated by the state police in the case — were presented in the court by the CBI at the end of their remand on Wednesday.

The state police had claimed seizing jewellery and other valuables looted from the victims but these were not presented in the court.

Sources said, “Since the accused have no objection in conducting narco-analysis test on them, CBI sleuths may also conduct brain-mapping test on them after fulfilling all legal formalities.” While narco-analysis test is a controlled administration of intravenous hypnotic medications called truth drugs on a suspect to procure vital information, brain-mapping is a comprehensive analysis of brain wave frequency, they added.
