For a party that has tried to claim the word “nationalism”, the BJP has always provoked violence and spread disharmony wherever it went, the Congress charged at a time when a debate on the slogan “Bharat Mata ki Jai”, the national anthem and Vande Mataram and the tricolour and saffron flag has been triggered by Sangh Parivar leaders in the middle of Assembly elections in four states and a Union Territory.
An article titled “RSS has insulted India’s Tricolour” on the Congress’ official website www.inc (April 4,2016) said, “Pt Nehru asked the Nation to unfurl the Tricolour to celebrate 26th January 1930 as India’s Independence Day while “Shri Hedgewar (RSS founder K.B. Hedgewar)” had said, “On 26th January 1930 I urge all members of the RSS to organise ‘sabhas’ to unfurl the RSS’ saffron flag”.

Since the 1930 statement of RSS-BJP ideologue Hedgewar to “RSS ideologue Golwalkar saying in 1946 that ‘this (RSS flag) is the only flag that we will salute’, we get a clear picture of the ideology of the RSS and how they will continue to undermine the national flag and other symbols of nationalism that were born out of the freedom struggle,” it said.
