BJP mocks Nitish Kumar, calls him ‘bechara CM’

Attacking the Grand Secular Alliance government, senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday said “jungle raj has returned” in Bihar and asked chief minister Nitish Kumar to act sternly against MLAs of the ruling alliance “involved in criminal activities in the state”.

Referring to several major incidents, including the killing of a jeweller in Patna and the double murder case of engineers in Darbhanga, he said, “The crime graph is rising and the MLAs of the ruling alliance are making a mockery of the CM’s claim that rule of law will prevail in Bihar.”

Stepping up his attacks against the CM, Mr Modi said his party had earlier decided not to say anything against the state government for the first six months, but the rising crime graph has “forced (it) to raise the issue”.

Terming Mr Nitish Kumar as “bechara (helpless)”, he said the CM is being dominated by his influential allies — RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Congress party. “The influence of Lalu Yadav is so much that it seems Nitish Kumar has lost all will to control the deteriorating law and order in the state. Lalu Yadav and the Congress are calling the shots in the government and now even his own party leaders have started to create havoc and he is just watching them as a bechara mukhya mantri (helpless chief minister),” the BJP leader said while briefing the press after his “Janata Darbar” in Patna on Tuesday. This was his first “Janata Darbar” after the Assembly election.
