BSP leaders say that the appointment has reinforced the BSP president’s allegation that she was insulted by Dayashankar at the behest of top BJP leaders.
“Behenji (Mayawati) has always been saying that the derogatory remarks against her were a part of the BJP conspiracy and her allegations has been proved true. The BJP has ‘honoured’ Swati Singh with this position and it is a matter of time before Dayashankar also makes a comeback in the BJP,” said a former BSP minister. Party sources said that Ms Mayawati would now use this to consolidate dalit votes in her favour.
