The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday termed Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati as a “goddess of corruption”.
Party spokesperson I.P. Singh was responding to the charges levelled by Ms Mayawati during her Agra rally on Sunday. Dscribing the NDA government as “pro-capitalist”, Ms Mayawati alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had forgotten all the promises he made before the 2014 general elections.
“The Mayawati regimes in Uttar Pradesh are the epitome of poor governance and corruption. The maximum number of BSP ministers were embroiled in corruption cases. The National Rural Health Mission scam, during which many health officials were murdered, also took place during her regime. In fact, she is the goddess of corruption,” said Mr Singh. “Innumerable leaders who quit the BSP accused her of selling tickets for a price. Even some candidates also confirmed this. All of them can’t be wrong. If a political leader sells ticket for a price, she treats politics as a business,” he said.
