Accuses CM of trying to deflect attention from ‘a particular person’ working with him
Union finance minister Arun Jaitley told a Delhi court on Tuesday he had not got any money from anyone during his tenure as DDCA president and accused Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal of trying to deflect attention from the CBI probe “against a particular person” working with him.
Mr Jaitley alleged Mr Kejriwal and five other AAP leaders, Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpai, had falsely said that he, as then DDCA president, had siphoned off money and was the beneficiary. Mr Jaitley arrived in court at around 3 pm amid heavy security and with a few other BJP leaders, including Nalin Kohli, Vijender Gupta and Aarti Mehra. Journalists were barred from attending the hearing that lasted almost two hours for security reasons.
The minister, who appeared before chief metropolitan magistrate Sanjay Khanagwal to record his statement supporting the criminal defamation complaint filed by him against Mr Kejriwal and others, said they had given “false and defamatory statements” against him and his family members.
