Arunachal Pradesh acting governor Tathagata Roy on Sunday swore in Pema Khandu as the state’s ninth chief minister. Mr Khandu, 36, the country’s youngest chief minister, replaced Nabam Tuki, who resigned after quitting as CLP leader Saturday, hours before the trust vote.

Mr Khandu was part of a group of 30 MLAs who had rebelled against Mr Tuki’s leadership. He is the eldest son of former CM Dorjee Khandu, who had died in a helicopter crash.

Chowna Mein was sworn in as deputy chief minister. Sources said Mr Khandu would expand his team soon and at least 10 more MLAs would become ministers.
