The Army on Thursday said that along with J&K police’s counter-insurgency Special Operators Group, it has arrested two militants during an operation launched in Pattan area of north-western Baramulla district.
“Following specific inpu-ts about the movement of suspected terrorists near Wusunkhui in the Pattan area, a joint team of the Ar-my and J&K police launc-hed an operation this mo-rning. Two terrorists were intercepted,” a defence spokesman here said.
There was no firefight or confrontation between the two sides. “Amidst the clamour for restraint from the security forces while dealing with the locals, this incident emerges as a testimony to the restraint being regularly exercised by the security forces who, even at grave risk, arrested these heavily armed terrorists,” the spokesman said.
The duo has been identified as Shaukat Ahmed Ganai (26) and Parvez Ahmed Mir (34).
The spokesman said that two AK-47 rifles, two grenade launchers and “other war-like stores” were recovered from these militants. “Army and police uniforms have also been seized which expose the nefarious designs of the terror outfits to terrorise people in the garb of security forces,” the spokesman said.
