Addressing the Parivartan Rally at Parade Ground here on Monday, BJP president Amit Shah brought up the Kairana and Mathura incidents to attack the ruling Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh.

Describing the Kairama incident as an “eye openor”, Mr Shah said if UP does not want a repeat of the alleged mass exodus of Hindu families, the SP government needs to be “thrown out”.

Highlighting “bhai-bhatijawaad” and “goondaraj” in the state under Akhilesh Yadav, Mr Shah said BJP is the only credible alternative to the SP.

Kairana and Mathura incidents will be part of the saffron party’s electoral strategy for the Assembly elections in UP scheduled early in 2017. Many feel the Kairana incident could be used to communalise the atmosphere ahead of the elections. While deteriorating law and order in the state will be the BJP’s main weapon against the ruling party, the BSP will be attacked over corruption and supporting the Congress.

“When UP gets tired of SP it brings BSP in power and when it gets tired of BSP it brings Samajwadi in power but none of them have ever brought any development in the state,” Mr Shah said. Attacking the BSP and Congress for having a tacit understanding, he said “Congress aur BSP ke beech mein ILU, ILU chal raha hai.”

Mr Shah exuded confidence that UP, which is looking for development and a change, would bring the saffron party to power. Describing the Modi government as the government of poor, rural and farmers, Mr Shah said BJP is the only party which can offer good governance, transparency and a corruption-free government.

Reacting to the rousing rhetoric around Kairana, UP CM Akhilesh Yadav said, “The BJP is saying that Samajwadi Party workers are chasing away people in Kairana. How much can the BJP lie I expect them to do some constructive work also”.

While the BJP has decided to send its own fact-finding team to Kairana, the NHRC has served a notice to the state government on the alleged exodus of 346 Hindu families from Kai-rana due to “fear of criminals”.

Four teams have been set up by the SSP to investigate the charges of Hindu families migrating.
