New Delhi: The Congress on Monday officially launched its manifesto making exercise for 2019 polls — a process which the party said would be entirely “inclusive” and has been named “Jan Awaz” or People’s Voice’.

A dedicated website, which would take views from the masses, and over 150 consultative meetings with public as well as experts are among the measures the Grand Old Party is undertaking to get grassroot opinion on what should be the focus of the document.

Former finance minister P. Chidambaram, who along with research cell head Prof Rajiv Gowda, launched the website www. manifesto.inc.in. said: “The Congress president has said that the Congress party manifesto would be made in an inclusive process we will ask, motivate people to tell us what they expect from the Congress party and should the Congress form the government what they expect from the government.”

The party has constituted a 22-member manifesto committee out of which now 20 sub-groups have been formed each headed by a senior leader.

Mr Chidambaram said a soft launch has already happened on Oct 1 and so far 16 such consultations have been held including one in Mumbai of the committee on economy headed by him.

“They (the committees) have travelled to different parts of the country and held both closed door and open door consultations with people. “We think that we must tap into this technology to get ideas from different parts of the country,” he added.
