New Delhi: Union water resources minister Uma Bharati on Wednesday said in the Lok Sabha that both the governments of UP and MP will have to work out a mutual water-sharing agreement to begin work on the Ken-Betwa River Link Project.

Answering questions related to the much delayed project, she said that the NDA government has already declared it as a national project and despite the previous UPA regime having kept it on the backburner, both the states should now fast track it and finalise the water-sharing agreement as it will help their interests in the long run. The replies came from amid slogans being raised by Opposition members seeking the PM’s reply on the agrarian crisis.
