Bhopal: Young IAS officer of Chhattisgarh government O.P. Choudhary has taken an innovative initiative which may help save hundreds of road accident victims in coming days. The Raipur district collector, a 2005 batch IAS officer, on Friday declared that those who would carry the victims of road mishaps to the hospital within 24 hours of the accident would be given an incentive of Rs 5000.

Mr Choudhary, who is also chairman of the local road safety committee, announced that the incentive to Good Samaritan would be provided from the Red Cross fund.

"The new policy of incentive to the Good Samaritans will save lives of road victims, who have often been overlooked by the passersby despite the Good Samaritan law that shields the rescuers from any kind of police harassment", a senior officer of the Raipur district said.
