New Delhi: Women in the police and CRPF will soon wear customised body armour designed for them.
Also known as Full Body Protectors (FBP), the armour will mainly shoulder pads, arm guards, front and back shields NDTV reported.
Until now, the lady cops had to adjust with the gear designed for men.
The gear designed was mostly male dominant but now, with the gear being more gender-specific, women would be able to perform their duties with ease.
Women would experience an increase in confidence and combativeness, according to the report.
The idea for a gender-specific gear was put forth at the National conference for women in police after which it was passed in the Lok Sabha.
It took 2 years for the CRPF to design the customised gear. It worked in closed association with Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS) and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
