Patna: RJD chief Lalu Yadav on Friday said that “the BJP’s tactics to derail our efforts to form an alliance has been exposed.”

Mr Yadav, while talking to this newspaper at his residence, said that he has been successful in persuading several leaders of similar ideologies to participate in the mega rally on August 27.

“The rally has been organised to expose the failures of the BJP. I also want to send a message to their camp (RSS-BJP) that I will drag them out their ‘gaddi’ (throne), and I can say that the Modi government will not be able to complete the five-year-term of five years.”

Meanwhile, BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, who had earlier exposed Mr Lalu Yadav and his son’s alleged involvement in dubious land deals, said that the construction work of the mall owned by the Delight marketing company had started without the permission of the State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority.

He said that the Union Environment Ministry in a letter dated May 15 had issued a notice to the state government directing them to stop the construction work of the mall as it was violating environmental laws. “This is a clear violation of the law and since the department comes under the ministry of Tejaswi Yadav’s brother, complaints were not filed against him or the company,” BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said.

The hard-hitting statement was made days after I-T sleuths raided several locations in Delhi and adjoining areas to trace benami land deals, involving Mr Yadav and his family members. He also refuted reports of raids in 22 locations in Delhi and termed it as “a complete lie” to malign his political image. “The BJP is in fear, that’s why it is targeting me and my family. They should tell me where the 22 locations raids were conducted in Delhi or anywhere else. This is nothing but an effort to malign my image. I am Lalu Yadav and no one can scare me away by their nefarious tactics,” Mr Yadav said.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, who had earlier exposed Mr Lalu Yadav and his son’s alleged involvement in dubious land deals, said that the construction work of the mall owned by the Delight marketing company had started without the permission of the State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA). “This is a clear violation of the law and since the department comes under the ministry of Tejaswi Yadav’s brother, complaints were not filed against him or the company,” BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said.

He said that the Union Environment Ministry in a letter dated May 15 had issued a notice to the state government directing them to stop the construction work of the mall as it was violating environmental laws.

The controversial mall first came into limelight last month when BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi produced documents to expose that the large patch of land on which the construction work was taking place was part of benami property owned by Lalu Yadav’s Deputy Chief Minister Son Tejaswi Yadav.

RJD Chief Lalu Yadav had earlier admitted that the family owns fifty percent stake in the mall being constructed in Patna. He had also claimed that his wife Rabri Devi and his two ministers have been filing income tax returns and also submitted affidavits to the election commission about their assets.
