Scindia, scion of Gwalior royal family, is commonly addressed as “Shrimant” by his followers as a mark of respect to him.
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh higher education minister Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya on Monday sparked a row by “sanctifying” a BJP worker by offering him Gangajal when the latter addressed Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia as “Shrimant”.
Mr Pawaiya took note of the party worker taking the name of Congress leader as “Shrimant Jyotiraditya Scindia” and immediately offered him Gangajal to sip to sanctify him.
“We should not promote feudal culture by addressing Mr Scindia as ‘Shrimant’”, he told the party worker.
Mr Scindia, scion of Gwalior royal family, is commonly addressed as “Shrimant” by his followers as a mark of respect to him.
Mr Pawaiya, a strong critic of Mr Scindia, recently triggered a row by offering a cash prize of `1 lakh each to Mr Scindia’s followers who could produce a picture showing Mr Scindia shaking his hand with him. He, however, lowered the prize money to `10 each when such pictures flooded his Facebook account.
