New Delhi: In a fresh setback, market leader IndiGo “withdrew” two more A-320 Neo aircraft from operations for checks after snags regarding the engine were reported. One aircraft that had flown in from Bengaluru to New Delhi was withdrawn by IndiGo at Delhi while the other aircraft that had flown to Srinagar from New Delhi was withdrawn at Srinagar airport. Already, 11 A-320 Neo aircraft fitted with at least one P&W 1100 engines with a serial number of 450 and beyond have already been grounded by aviation regulator DGCA over safety issues. Following that, IndiGo had recently cancelled hundreds of flights till the end of this month.

After an incident of engine failure earlier this month when an IndiGo flight, an Airbus A-320 Neo aircraft, suffered a shutdown of a P&W 1100 engine after take-off from Ahmedabad, the DGCA had swung into action and had ordered grounding of 11 Airbus 320 Neo aircraft that have at least one P&W 1100 engine fitted with serial number of 450 and beyond.
