New Delhi: In a nation-wide terror advisory, the home ministry has directed the state police to remain extremely alert in view of the ongoing festive season.

The ministry has warned all the states that apart from carrying out subversive activities, the terror outfits may also try and trigger communal clashes in different parts of the country during the festival period.

The home ministry has asked states to deploy additional security forces at places that attract a high footfall like markets, shopping malls, railway station and bus terminals. The state police forces have also been asked to make special security arrangements at various religious places also.

The states have been directed to remain extremely alert against any kind of provocative slogan shouting, specially near religious places by mischievous or subversive elements. Ministry sources though there were no specific intelligence inputs on any major operation being planned by terrorist outfits but it was “advisable to remain on high alert during the festive season and states have been sensitised accordingly.’”

The home ministry has also taken note of some provocative posters that have come up in parts of the Kashmir Valley warning “outsiders’’ living or working there as they have been advised to leave by October 25.

“This seems to be some kind of mischief and the outfit claiming responsibility is some Mujahideen-e-Kashmir which is relatively unknown. But security would be provided to all outsiders working in the Valley.  Security forces are keeping watch on the developments as of labourers go on leave during Diwali.
