Amit Shah likely to oversee polls in 3 states from Bhopal ‘war room’

Bhopal: BJP national president Amit Shah is most likely to oversee election management in poll-bound states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan from here.

Sources said Mr Shah was reportedly keen to set up the BJP’s “war room” in Bhopal for election management in the three states, which are going to Assembly polls in November this year.

“The war room will function from a private house in Bhopal. Mr Shah’s election management team will operate from the place,” a senior BJP leader indicated. He, however, said the house from where Mr Shah would operate in Bhopal was yet to be finalised.

Sources said Mr Shah’s poll team from Delhi has recently toured all the 51 districts in the state to gather data on caste and other social issues which may influence elections in the 230 Assembly constituencies in MP.

“Mr Shah’s poll team has covered all the 230 Assembly constituencies in the state gathering data on caste and other factors that may influence elections in each assembly constituency. The feedback by the team will help in deciding Mr Shah’s tour itinerary during his poll campaign in coming days,” the BJP leader said.

Mr Shah was said to have adopted similar poll strategy in recently held Assembly elections in Gujarat and Karnataka.

When contacted, BJP spokesman here said it was too early for Mr Shah to take a plunge in poll campaign in MP since the assembly elections in the state were still six months away.

“We are yet to receive any information as to if Mr Shah is going to set up his war room for MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan in Bhopal, from the party’s headquarters in Delhi”, Mr Agrawal told this newspaper.
