Lucknow zoo to be named after Vajpayee

A formal announcement is expected to be made on Vajpayee's birth anniversary on December 25.

Lucknow: Continuing with its name-changing spree, the Yogi Adityanath government is now preparing to name the Lucknow zoo after former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee.

The state government, last week, had named the newly constructed Ekana Sports stadium after Mr Vajpayee.

A formal announcement is expected to be made on Vajpayee’s birth anniversary on December 25.

The Lucknow zoo, built in 1921, was initially known as Prince of Wales Zoological Gardens but in 2015, the Akhilesh government changed its name to Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden.
