New Delhi: As part of the recommendations of a three-member Committee comprising of the officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Women and Child Development which have now been accepted by the MEA, the government has decided not to print the hitherto last page of passports henceforth which contains “information such the name of the father, mother, spouse, address, emigration check required (ECR) and old passport number with date and place of issue of the holder of the passport”. This was stated by the MEA on Friday. The Committee had earlier been constituted “to examine various issues pertaining to passport applications where mother/child had insisted that the name of the father should not be mentioned in the passport and also relating to passport issues to children with single parent and to adopted children,” the MEA said. So, while the passports will not show the names of the passport-holder’s parents or spouse, the passport-holder’s address will also be omitted from mention, meaning thereby that applicants will obviously have to furnish other documents for their address-proof.
