Bhopal: Water crisis in a government hospital in Madhya Pradesh had led to the closure of its operation theatre (OT). Kin of a patient admitted in district hospital in MP’s Dhar on Sunday brought to light the shocking incident.

“My 80-year-old father was admitted in the district hospital in Dhar when he suffered fractures in his right leg last week. Doctors in the hospital recommended surgery. But, the operation had to be postponed consecutively for three days due to water crisis,” Om Prakash Nagar said.

According to him, his father, Fate Singh Nagar, was admitted in the government hospital last week with a fractured leg.

The orthopedic surgeon in the hospital, M.K. Bairasi, had first fixed June 7 to perform the surgery. But, the operation had to be deferred thrice due to non-supply of water to the hospital.

“I learnt from the doctor concerned on Saturday that surgery could not be performed owning to water crisis. Immediately, I arranged a tanker to supply water to the hospital. Only then, surgery could be conducted,” he said.

Civil surgeon S.K. Kh-are said the local municipality stopped water supply to the hospital leading to water scarcity.
