New Delhi: Union Minister VK Singh on Monday said that the IAF strike on a Jaish-e-Mohammed camp in Pakistan's Balakot on February 26, was a decisive step and paradigm shift reflecting that India can go to any extent to fight terrorism.

"The air strike is a decisive decision of the government and shows a paradigm shift asserting that India can go to any extent to fight terrorism. I believe all citizens of the country have appreciated this," Singh told ANI.

In reference to Lok Sabha elections round the corner, he said that people with their votes will choose between a government that takes strict action on national security and the one which had "lax attitude" on the issue.

"While addressing a rally in Ghaziabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked people as to what type of government they want. The one which takes strict action on national security or the other which has a lax attitude on the issue, I think people themselves will answer it," said Singh.

On the development front, the Minister underlined that with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of ‘sabka sath sabka vikas’, massive work has been done during this government.

Taking a jibe at grand alliance of various opposition parties, Singh said: "Workers of different parties which make 'mahagathbandhan' were at loggerhead earlier. (Therefore) how can they suddenly become friends? The way people are analysing it (mahagathbandhan) may be wrong."

Expressing confidence on the voters of his constituency, he said that electorates will vote even greater numbers in the upcoming elections, which is beginning from April 11.

"The image of Ghaziabad has improved. People will vote in even greater number this time. Anyone who thinks for the betterment of the country will vote for the BJP," said Singh.

The Election Commission on Sunday announced the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections. The dates for the seven phases are April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19. Counting of votes will be done on May 23.
