Triple talaq over burnt ‘chapatti’ in UP

Lucknow: In a bizarre incident, a Muslim woman has claimed that her husband gave her triple talaq and threw her out of the house because the chapatti she had prepared was slightly burnt.

The incident took place in Pahretha village in Mahoba district and the victim has now lodged a complaint with the police.

A case of domestic violence has been registered against the husband.

According to reports, the 24-year-old woman was married in 2017. She claimed that her husband often thrashed her and three days before granting her divorce, he had burnt her with cigarette butts.

It is noteworthy that the Supreme Court, in August 2017, has already struck down triple talaq but the bill is yet to be cleared by the Rajya Sabha.
