WB: 8 killed, 36 injured as bus overturns, falls into ditch

Krishnanagar (West Bengal): A bus on Tuesday overturned and fell into a ditch in Nadia district, killing eight persons and injuring 36, officials said.
The bus was on its way from Krishnagar to Palassey para when the driver lost control over the vehicle at Galakata and it overturned and fell into a ditch, the police said.
Eight persons were killed in the accident, Nadia District Magistrate Sumit Gupta said.
The 36 people injured in the accident were rushed to hospitals at Tehatta and Krishnagar.
The district magistrate said an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh would be paid to the next of kin of the deceased.
