Patna: The Bihar government’s claims to maintain law and order seems to have fallen flat after a seven-year-old girl was abducted from her bus stop in Purnea and two teachers were killed in Vaishali on Monday.

The girl according to the police is the daughter of leading Purnea-based businessman Surendra Vinakia. They said that the minor girl was pushed into a car immediately after she got down from school bus.

A special team has been constituted to conduct raids at all possible hideouts to ensure the safe release of the girl.

“Effort is being made for the safe release of the girl. Local people who were present near the bus stop when the incident occurred are also being quizzed to find out information about the kidnappers,” Purnea SP Vishal Sharma told reporters.

Another incident which rocked the state on Monday was the killing of two teachers inside the premises of a government school in Bihar’s Vaishali.

The incident occurred when the teacher was entering his classroom. Vaishali SP M.S. Dhillon said that “a manhunt has been launched to nab two motorcycle-borne men who allegedly shot both the teachers”.

The SP added that “the police is also trying to find out the motive behind the murder”.

Reacting sharply to both the incidents, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav blamed the state government for complete law and order breakdown in Bihar.

The RJD leader said that the crime graph has gone up because the good governance policy of chief minister Nitish Kumar has failed.

“The state government, led by chief minister Nitish Kumar, has not been able to take adequate measures to stop rising crime in Bihar. Law and order situation has turned bad to worse and incidents of kidnapping, murder and rapes have gone up,” Tejashwi Yadav said.

According to Mr Yadav, criminal incidents in the state have increased after Mr Kumar joined hands with the BJP.

Mr Yadav and other Opposition leaders are of the view that the “people in Bihar are being killed due to vendetta politics”.
