Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed did not apply for inclusion of names in the NRC and their names were not dropped as alleged by certain sections.

Guwahati: The false propaganda in a section of media accusing that some big names were dropped from the final draft of National Register of Citizens has caused anger not only among the authorities but also the people in Assam.

Prominent among those names who could not find place in the final draft of the NRC included the family members of former President of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, former and first lady chief minister of Assam Anwara Taimur, BJP MLA Ramakant Deory and army man.

Defining it a planned conspiracy to discredit the process of updating the NRC, the state NRC coordinator Prateek Hajela pointed out that several family members of former President of India, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed did not apply for inclusion of names in the NRC and their names were not dropped as alleged by certain sections.
